The 2002/2003 tour was comprised of 9 events around the globe with the Arctic Challenge, founded by snowboard legend and TTR co-founder Terje Haakonsen, as the final stop. The star tier event system allowed for more structure within the tour and opened room for more events to be included in the TTR system. With more events on the tour (67 events in total), the TTR continued establishing its credibility as a globally recognized independent snowboard Tour. The launch of the TTR World Ranking list on December 5th, 2005 resulted in the crowning of the first-ever TTR World Tour Champion at the US Open Snowboarding Championships.

Honda Session at Vail
At the General Assembly in May 2008, measures were taken to further foster the progression of the Tour and, thus, the development of the sport of snowboarding itself. Among those were the introduction of the season-end bonus points system and the increase in number of determining results for a rider’s final ranking from an average of six to eight.
2008/2009 Season
In November 2008, due to the cancellation of three 6Star events, the Air & Style in Munich, the Slopestyle at the Oakley Arctic Challenge in Oslo and The Session in Vail, the decision had to be made to reduce the number of determining results from eight to seven. Despite the cancellation of three premiere events, the TTR had its most successful season to date with record number of participating riders and building recognition in the mainstream worldwide. In 08/09, 187 results were registered in four formats. Participation levels continued to increase with a total of 4,207 riders (822 women and 3385 men) from 25 different countries.

2009/2010
The 2009/2010 season was arguably the busiest year in freestyle snowboarding history with the regular TTR season operating alongside the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympic Games. This is also the season when the game changed in halfpipe riding with many riders like Shaun White, Luke Mitrani and Louie Vito unveiling new double-cork tricks at the 2009 5Star Burton New Zealand Open. While this new type of trick blew minds throughout the snowboard industry, it had other riders trying to play catch-up in the off-season on air-bags and foam pits in order to stay on top of the progression. The 2009/10 season became a year of double-cork madness both in the pipe and on the slopestyle course. Peetu Piiroinen once again put on an amazing performance throughout the season and took down his second back-to-back TTR World Tour Champion title along with a Silver Medal at the Vancouver Olympic Games. And, Enni Rukajarvi came out of nowhere to officially make a name for herself. She took down podiums around the world at women’s events and was awarded the women’s TTR World Tour Champion title.
09/10 Men’s TTR World Tour Champion: Peetu Piiroinen (FIN) $50,000
09/10 Women’s TTR World Tour Champion: Enni Rukajarvi (FIN) $50,000

2010/2011
The 2010/11 season was jammed packed full of action around the world with a starting point in Whistler in North America, taking a turn down to New Zealand for the Southern Hemisphere season, made a stop in Beijing, China, headed to Europe for an intense run then ended up back in North America finishing up at the old faithful Burton US Open. Many younger riders were on the come-up in the 2010/11 season and were dominating podiums everywhere they went. Guys like Sebastien Toutant (CAN), Eric Willett (USA), Seppe Smits (BEL), Sage Kotsenberg (USA) and Mark McMorris (CAN) were showing up at every slopestyle and big air event they could and were going for broke landing technical mind-bending versions of double-cork tricks. However, the jack-of-all-trades, Mr. Peetu Piiroinen, gave these guys a run for their money with podiums across the board in big air, slopestyle and halfpipe to take down his third-straight TTR World Tour Champion title of his career. The women’s side of the tour was also nail-biter with Kelly Clark (USA) winning just about every single halfpipe competition she entered in the 2010/11 season. But, she had to deal with the versatility of Jamie Anderson’s (USA) skills who is a master on the slopestyle course and also drop into the pipe. Jamie finally clinched her second TTR World Tour Champion title of her career at the 6Star US Open.
10/11 Men’s TTR World Tour Champion: Peetu Piironen (FIN) $50,000 (third straight title-win)
