Event History

Burton Halfpipe Invitational is one of the year’s most exiting snowboard events in Scandinavia. Last year was amazing, this year we turn up the volume! We have invited the global elite of snowboarders to compete in Åre for glory, prestige and 80.000:- SEK. BHPI is far from an typical HP event, instead we will give you more creativity and self-expression combined with an unexpected output. The arena will be the best and biggest that Sweden ever offered for HP riding. Among the talented riders we find Terje Haakonsen, Mikkel Bang, Hampus Mosesson, Jakob Wilhelmsson, Chris Sörman, Jonas Carlsson, Dimitry Fesenko, Marco Grilic, Peetu Piiroinen and many more.

For this year we also have an official 3 Star ranking in the world pro snowboard series. The TTR Tour is without question the largest culmination of Independent Freestyle Events acting under one common Tour Flag. Now in its 6th year, the TTR boasts an impressive 10-month competition season including top rated snowboarding events over four geographical zones. The winner of the Swatch TTR World Snowboard Tour will be rewarded with 50 000 US Dollars as last year’s winner Shaun White got to experience. The format of BHPI 2008 will be “head 2 head”, which is directly taken from the request by the 35 unique set of riders. This format gives a nerve thrilling experience for the audience where the best run from each athlete will be compared and judged with their chosen components best run.

When only 5 riders remain the main final will be held, this final gives the riders two runs where the best run will be judged and scored from 1-13. Prize ceremony will be held directly after the last run in BHPI down in the valley and heart of ÅRE, the main square. Z-Tv will from their stage give you Live performances, DJ´s, Riding highlights & Interviews. An all you need after shred feel! This is also where the audience, media and riders get to celebrate the lucky 13 from the past day shredding up on the hill.

When night falls we open up the doors to a Rider and media dinner at Werséns Bar. This will be followed by the annual “Burton In Bed With Transition” party upstairs.. Riders , audience, media meet up for a good time and long drinks accompanied by live DJ sets and not yet revealed acts.
