Event History

2007 was the inaugural year for the Quiksilver Showdown Over the City. With Grouse Mountain’s epic park design and even more epic backdrop in full effect, the event was a huge success. The weekend started off with top local amateurs battling it out for the small number of qualifying spots for the Invite-Only Friday Night Jib Session and Saturday Park Session. The Friday Night Jib Session was a great show of skill that took place on 3 jib setups. When it was all said and done, Molly Milligan and Jeff Pepperdine walked away with top honours for female and male respectively.

Saturday was the main event as the famous Twin Hips were unveiled. These jumps, with the stunning backdrop of Vancouver behind them, took a beating as riders boosted on them all day. Mike Osachuk and Stephanie Just took home the overall titles with their limitless combos on both the jibs and hips. Riders Choice went to Dave Fortin for his relentless attempts at clearing the right hip. With such an enormous pro talent pool in Vancouver and Whistler(only a short hour and a half drive away), the riding level was off the charts.
