TTR Billabong Ante Up 2011 - Final Wrap Up

American rider, Eric Willett, took the first 5Star Big Air title of the 2011/12 TTR World Tour season at the second annual Billabong Ante Up competition held atop Whistler Mountain in Canada.  The sun was hidden behind the clouds for most of the day, but riders put on a great performance for the crowd of spectators at the top of the mountain where Sebastien Toutant (CAN) came in a close second behind Willett and Dash Kamp (USA) took home third place.  The Ante Up started out with a qualifying round of 30 snowboarders in the early afternoon that was whittled down to 10 men for the finals.  The start list was packed full of riders who are usually super consistent on big air kickers like Seppe Smits (BEL), Chas Guldemond (USA), Gjermund Braaten (NOR) and Roope Tonteri (FIN) but they just couldn't seem to put their landing gear down on the 90-foot gap jump.  This opened the door for Eric Willett who took numerous podium spots at Big Air and Slopestyle competitions last season and for Sebastien Toutant who won the Ante Up last year.  Eric Willett landed a smooth switch backside double cork 1260 to take $20,000 USD for his win today.  Sebastien Toutant was awarded $12,500 USD for landing a Cab double cork 1260 and Dash Kamp walked away with a cool $8,000 for his backside double cork 1080.

TTR Billabong Ante Up 2011 - Check the Course with Eric Willett

Riders from around the globe have made the journey to Whistler, Canada for the second annual Billabong Ante Up big air competition set for today Friday, July 1st, 2011.  The Ante Up is the first 5Star stop on the 2011/12 TTR World Tour and will also act as the first event where riders can register results for the all-new TTR Big Air Ranking list.  The riders list is full of international talent including Eric Willett (USA), Sebastien Toutant (CAN), Sage Kotsenburg (USA) and Seppe Smits (BEL) who were all major forces at big air events last season.  These guys will need to be on top of their game with some other big names on the invite list who will all be battling for the 850 TTR Big Air ranking points and a piece of the $50,000 USD prize purse.  In the following clip Eric Willett introduces you to the setup up at Whistler and talks about the importance of wearing a helmet. 2011/12 TTR Season Begins At Billabong Ante Up

Billabong is proud to announce Billabong Ante Up, a 5star TTR World Snowboard Tour event back for its second year, taking place on July 1st, 2011 in Whistler, British Columbia on the top of Whistler Mountain. TTR BIllabong Ante Up 2010 Finals - Seb Toots

The Billabong Ante Up competition, the first 5Star event of the 2010/11 Swatch TTR World Tour season, went off today with an excellent showing from a diverse field of riders. The summertime event was held up at 7,000-feet in the Camp of Champions park on the Blackcomb glacier and featured a massive 75-foot gap jump. The event featured 40 riders going for a piece of the $50,000 prize purse and 850 TTR ranking points. It was an all-Canadian podium and Sebastien Toutant (CAN) took the top spot making him $20,000 richer. Toutant also secured an automatic invite to the Billabong Air & Style Innsbruck. All the riders were pulling off some impressive tricks all day and it came down to a double cork 1260 race for the podium with all three riders doing different variations of the trick. Toutant won the first place podium spot with a flawless Cab 1260 double cork and had this to say about his win, "Winning the first 5Star TTR big air contest was just amazing, it was an epic final and it's sick because I'll be leading in the TTR ranking going down to New Zealand in August."Coming in second place behind Toutant and winning $15,000 was Matts Kulisek (CAN) who landed a backside 1260 double cork and Mark McMorris (CAN) took third place earning $10,000 for his frontside 1260 double cork. Other notable mentions include Gjermund Braaten (NOR) who also stomped a backside 1260 double cork to take fourth place and Chas Guldemond (USA) who landed a frontside 1260 for fifth place. TTR Billabong Ante Up 2010 Practice Day

The TTR crew traveled to Whistler, BC up in Canada this week for the 5Star Billabong Ante Up going down this weekend (www.billabong.com/anteup). Yes, it is summertime in Canada but there is plenty of snow hanging around up on the Blackcomb glacier which plays host to the legendary Camp of Champions (www.campofchampions.com). Today, June 25th, was the first day of camp so there were tons of kids heading up to shred the park in the summer sun. Practice for the Ante Up main event was also happening with some heavy hitters sessioning the 75+foot gap-jump making for a pretty sweet first day up on the glacier.Chas Guldemond, Seb Toots, Mark McMorris and Scotty Lago were all looking pretty solid, especially since some of these guys haven't been on snow for a little while. Chas busted out a smooth backside 10 double cork with a double poke which turned some heads. Scotty Lago was throwing some back sevens and front tens with his signature style. And, Seb and Mr. McMorris were also landing some tricks to be reckoned with. There is a hefty $50,000 prize purse on the line plus some valuable TTR ranking points for the riders to secure that will count towards the 2010/11 season (www.ttrworldtour.com). The 2010/2011 season of the Swatch TTR World Snowboard Tour is going to begin with the 5Star Billabong Ante Up big air event on June 26th, 2010 in Whistler, Canada.The 5Star event offers a $50,000 prize purse and 850 Swatch TTR points.
