TTR O'Neill Evolution 2012 - Big Air Finals

DAVOS, 7 January 2012 - In the Swiss winter wonderland of Davos, Canadians Spencer O'Brien and Mark McMorris won the 6Star Big Air competition at the O'Neill Evolution. Gripping until the last run, Mark was followed closely by Eric Willet (USA) and Seppe Smits (BEL) in third place. Swiss rider, Sina Candrian, came second, followed by rookie Anna Gasser (AUT) in the women's competition.The women's final was extremely exciting, counting in rookies like 3rd placed Anna Gasser (AUT), leaving some experienced favorites behind. It was Anna's last run that secured her spot on the podium. With a stylish Backside 540 Mute Grab and Frontboard to 50-50 Frontside Out on the rail, she surprised everyone, including herself. Amongst a thrilled crowd of thousands, the men's final was exciting down to the last run. Eric Willett lost his first and second run lead to Mark McMorris by only 0.30 points, with Mark performing a nearly perfect Backside Double Cork 1260 Mute Grab and Gap switch hardway to 270 out on the rail. None of the finalists were holding back in going BIG, which influenced the atmosphere amongst the spectators tremendously, giving the riders the necessary energy to perform.In the Big Air Tour ranking, Eric Willett grabs the lead from Roope Tonteri (FIN). Seppe Smits advanced from 12th to 5th position, remaining in his 5th position in the Overall Rankings. O'Neill Evolution was the last Big Air contest before the Big Air final Billabong Air&Style on February 4th, in Innsbruck, Austria, where the TTR Big Air Tour Champion will be crowned.

TTR O'Neill Evolution 2012 - Check the Course with Scherrer, Willett, Morgan

Davos, Switzerland, Wednesday 4th of January 2012. Training for the 6th edition of the O'Neill Evolution opened today in its traditional home resort of Davos, Switzerland. Bluebird conditions, 40cm's of overnight snow, and a picture perfect Big Air and Rail set up welcomed the international snowboard world. As O'Neill celebrates its 60th anniversary at the O'Neill Evolution it also becomes the first TTR World Snowboard Tour 6 Star event of 2012. International stars and qualification hopefuls have started arriving at the resort to test and train in the all new Big Air and Rails set up.TTR met up with Swiss Jan Scherrer who walked us through his snowboard school in Davos and Eric Willett and Ethan Morgan introduced the setup on the mountain. TTR World Snowboard Tour 2011/12 - Northern Hemisphere Promo

http://www.ttrworldtour.comWith the Southern Hemisphere leg done and dusted, the TTR World Snowboard Tour will take a brief hiatus before turning all focus to the Northern Hemisphere competition calendar. The 2011/12 season marks the 10th anniversary of the TTR World Tour and the Northern Hemisphere leg is, once again, packed full of the best independent snowboard competitions in the world on all levels. New for the TTR Tour this year is the introduction of an all-new World Tour Ranking system that is now broken out to rank riders in individual disciplines: Overall Tour Ranking, Halfpipe Tour Ranking, Slopestyle Tour Ranking and Big Air Tour Ranking. In addition, the TTR World Tour has a new 6Star competition onboard, the World Snowboarding Championships, which will feature halfpipe, quarterpipe and slopestyle with a huge prize purse worth $500,000 USD. The 6Star event calendar has shaped up to be an elite list of classic events that have been around for ages with the added highlight of the inaugural World Snowboarding Championships (WSC). The 6Star Tour will begin in December with the Shaun White Oakley Air & Style Beijing in China where riders will go head-to-head in the famed 'bird's nest' National Stadium. The Tour will then move to Switzerland in January for the O'Neill Evolution in Davos. Before the the all-new World Snowboarding Championships in Oslo in February, riders will make a stop off in Austria for one of the longest-running events in snowboarding: The Billabong Air & Style Innsbruck. From here riders will compete at the Burton European Open in Laax. The season will be capped off with the cornerstone of freestyle snowboarding events, the 30th annual Burton US Open, where TTR will crown the Overall, Halfpipe and Slopestyle Tour Champions. The combined prize purse of all 6Star events for the 2011/12 season is worth a whopping $1.15-million USD.

The first was a kicker with two super poppy take-offs measuring 40-feet and 55-feet and the second was a choice of three rails including an up-flat-down box, a pole jam and a flat-down rail. Sebastien Toutant was on fire on the slopestyle course today and won the finals with a Cab double cork 1260 to a backside boardslide to underflip out on his final run. Seb had this to day about his win, "Second 6Star win of the season is so amazing today. To ride with my good friends and every run we were stepping it up. On my last run I was outside of the podium and stomped my best Cab 12 ever. I plan to go to BEO next and give it my best on the TTR Tour." Fellow Canadian, Mark McMorris was able to put down a Cab double cork 1260 to frontside tailslide to 450 out after a hard slam on his first run to take second place. And, American rider, Eric Willet, who has been making a name for himself over the past two seasons in the contest scene took third place with a switch backside double cork 1260 to backside boardslide to 450 out.

TTR O'Neill Evolution 2011 - Womens Slopestyle Finals

Jamie Anderson (USA) rose above the pack to take the 6Star TTR O'Neill Evolution Women's Slopestyle title with a backside 540 mute to a switch frontside boardslide-to-backside boardslide. Now sitting in the World No. 3 position, Jamie was super excited and had this to say about the day, "Today the event was really fun. The kicker was perfect and the weather was great. The progression for women's riding was really high, which was awesome. After this I'm going to head to the 6Star Burton European Open and then I want to go to all the big TTR events." Sarka Pancochova was riding well to take second place and reigning TTR Champion, Enni Rukajarvi, was able to grab third place.
