Jamie Anderson
Jamie Anderson from South Lake Tahoe has a big shiny collection of TTR event Titles reaching from 3-6 star level. At only 17 years of age she has not only won the TTR 6-Star Burton US Open Snowboarding Championships slopestyle, but also the Roxy Chicken Jam in Kaprun, Austria in the beginning of the 06/07 season and the quarterpipe event at the O'Neill Evolution in Davos in January. Not to mention the Billabong slopestyle Jam and the Abominable SnowJam - all in one single season!
Five TTR titles in one season and still not the Swatch TTR World Snowboard Tour Champion? Jamie's amazingly strong slopestyle skills give her a big advantage over her competitors but she could not fight back Torah Bright (AUS) in the TTR Women's tour title race in the halfpipe at the Roxy Chicken Jam in Park City. This 21st position in the last event on the Women's tour calendar with +25% banked points was the only thing between her and the Tour Championship 06/07.
But at her age, finishing 5th in the final TTR ranking the season before and 2nd in the World Snowboard Tour 06/07 just shows how fast she is evolving and there is no doubt about an attempt to go for the title this winter - a title that would make her the youngest ever TTR World Tour Champion.
In the current season she has already put another title under her belt by winning the 4-Star Garnier Fructis Australian Open slopestyle, part of the World Snowboard Tour's Southern Hemisphere leg. She also placed 6th in the Halfpipe in Australia and further down at the 5-Star Burton New Zealand Open, she placed 10th in the Slopestyle. More recent in the 07/08 season however, Jamie has been killing it in the Slopestyle, taking second at the 6-Star Roxy Chicken Jam in Kaprun Austria, and dominating the field in Laax, Swizterland with a first in the Slopestyle at the 6-Star Burton European Open, where she busted out her signature box combos, a stylish eggplant on the Quarterpipe, and one of only a handful of female competitors to step it up on the big kicker line. Jamie continued her success at the 5-Star Nippon Open Slopestyle with a second place behind her Billabong teammate Jenny Jones.
Jamie may be one of the youngest female snowboarders on the tour, but she is also one of the best and most progressive riders, proving her worth time and time again. This season definitely saw Jamie constantly high in the rankings and pushing women's snowboarding to new levels. She simply threw it down when the time came, first placing second in the Slopestyle at the 6-Star Burton US Open, but then taking it all home in Mammoth at the final women's event of the Tour, the 6-Star Roxy Chicken Jam. By simply entering and competing in the pipe and then completely tearing apart the Slopestyle set up in Mammoth, Jamie closed the book on an epic season, walking away as the new 07/08 Women's TTR Tour Champion.
