Kjersti Buaas
Kjersti is an international snowboard superstar, known for her smooth style and great attitude. She is clearly one of the true ambassadors of the snowboarding world. For Kjersti snowboarding is all about having fun with friends, the lifestyle, the creativity and the freedom. Although she likes to do well in contests, being recognised as a progressive, creative and stylish rider is what matters most to her.
Kjersti Buaas started riding in 1994 and soon after, in 1996 she won a local big jump contest, receiving her first sponsorship. She started travelling around competing in some contests, winning the World Junior Championships in 1999 which launched her international career. In 2000 she signed her first professional snowboard contract, and she won her first World Cup contest that same year. She then secured her place as the most stylish female ripper out there at the Winter Olympics in Salt lake, pulling the biggest Air to Fakies ever seen by a girl and finishing just outside the podium in 4th place.
Kjersti finished 4th in the 06/07 TTR Ranking by posting one sick 6Star result after another, completing her title race with two 5th places at the final event of last season's TTR Women's World Snowboard Tour, the Roxy Chicken Jam in Park City, Utah.
In 07/08 Kjersti had another solid season, posting a series of consistent results. She beat out a star studded field when she took out the 6Star Burton U.S Open and Slopestyle and also proved her versatility by winning the Halfpipe at the 3Star Norwegian Championships. These wins, combined with a series of other results helped her finish in 4th position for the second year running.
With some newly learned tricks in her bag, like the BS 7, her strength in all formats (just check those career statistics) and her attitude towards competitions, Kjersti returned in the 08/09 Season as one of the hottest competitors on the scene. She has already placed 3rd in the Slopestyle and 2nd in the Halfpipe at the 6Star Burton European Open and looks likely to finish strongly this season.
Kjersti is definitely a TTR favourite, ready to push it, progress and possibly even claim the next women's TTR Tour Title.
